MCC Crew Leaders and Corpsmembers participate in the AmeriCorps national service program. Each year over 50,000 young Americans participate across the country in direct service projects to meet needs in the areas of environment, human needs, education, public safety, and homeland security. This is a great opportunity to serve your community while gaining valuable skills and experiences. Each member’s benefits consist of:

Money for College
Upon successful completion of your term you’ll receive an education award that may be used to pay education costs at qualified institutions of higher education or training, or to repay qualified student loans 1700 hour members receive $4,725 and 900 hour members receive $2,362.50. A member has up to seven years after his or her term of service has ended to claim the award.

Help with Student Loans
If you already have student loans you can use your education award to pay them off. And while you are enrolled in the program, you may be eligible for deferment and forbearance on your student loans. Your lender can tell you for sure. If you're eligible, AmeriCorps will pay for the interest that is accrued on student loans for members who complete their service.
